September 1st Sketch

Welcome to Spring!

It's a beautiful day in Brisbane today. A lovely day to start the new month and Spring with.  This month, we are starting off with a fab new sketch, a new guest Designer and it's the first reveal from our new Spring / Summer Team.

Our Guest this month is Leonie Neal-Dawson.
A lot of my hobbies tend to come and go but having stuck with scrapbooking for ten years I guess you could say that it's here to stay!

Scrapbooking has forever changed the way that I record and preserve my family’s stories and it has certainly evolved into my passion. It brings together my interest in photography, documentation, art and craft.
Mostly I scrap 12x12 pages but I also enjoy creating mixed media canvases. My favorite thing at the moment is to create fun backgrounds for my scrapbook pages using inks, paints, sprays, masks and stamps.

Pop over to my blog to if you’d like to see more of my scrapbooking http://leonieslife-leonie.blogspot.com.au

I hope that my layouts can inspire you in someway to take part in this months sketches at Stuck.
and Thank you Sara for inviting me to be a guest designer here at Stuck Sketches.

I have loved being on the design team for ‘Stuck?! Sketches and I am really excited to have the opportunity to do a second term here

CT Introductions - Part 4

Hello.

We are just over half way through our introductions. Today we are meeting Kylie Symons and Leanne Allinson.

Kylie Symons
I live in a small town in Australia called Tumut. I have lived my whole life basically in this country town and I love the peace and serenity which surrounds us. I am married to my school friend sweetheart Andrew and we share three beautiful daughters- Kayley,  Emma and Bridget. I have been scrapping since 2007 and I love a great challenge and enjoy trying different techniques. I do like to use bright and bold colours on my layouts which might make me stand out from the rest-LOL . I love to cut up pp and use a lot of chipboard and embellishments on my layouts. I do mainly scrap 12x12.

Leanne Allinson

Hi Everyone! My name is Leanne and apart from being a passionate scrapbooker, I am a busy stay at home mum to four children…. 1 daughter and 3 sons. These guys and my wonderful husband (who is thankfully very understanding of my need to create), are under constant attack from me aiming the camera at them!

We live in beautiful, sunny Queensland, just north of Brisbane, Australia and I guess it reflects in my style of scrap booking. I think it is best described as fresh and clean… but mostly honest. I have a strong urge to capture the stories behind the photos and pretty papers…and there are lots of pretty papers out there to play with!! So it depends on what message I am trying to get across. I am quite happy to create a layout that is “earthy” and I am totally smitten with white space.

In most of my layouts you will find several small photos that will take you on a journey. Capturing the images is part of my love of scrapping. Handwritten journaling telling “the story” is the other component I love but lately I have rediscovered the typewriter.

My style has been described as clean, simple, shabby chic and cluster conscious. I’m not sure how those pieces all fit together but my pages will have some stitching on there somewhere and the rule of thirds principle usually applies. I have also been converted to scrap 8.5in x 11in pages.

I really hope I can inspire you and others to scrap the “day to day” living aspect of their lives. To create something that you can look back on in the future and truly reflect on how things used to be. I am still relatively new to this hobby, having been scrapping since 2009, but I absolutely love the opportunities this craft has given me. Especially when I get to document my family‘s history.

CT Introductions - Part 2

Good morning!

Today we are meeting team members Celeste Vermeend and Kate McCulloch.

Celeste Vermeend
I have been scrapbooking for almost 9 years. I first scrapbooked my baby twins premature birth and their stay in hospital. It was a stressful and emotional time and I felt I needed to document it more creatively and that led me to my local scrapbook store. The rest is history! I am now a mother to five. Having had two more little ones after my twins and oldest daughter. I live a busy and chaotic life that I wouldn’t have any other way – most of the time! My love of scrapbooking eventually led to photography. And I now run a small business from home and I love it. Up until my last two children were born I had been regularly published in all three Australian scrapbooking magazines. I have held a DT position on the now defunct For Keeps magazine. I was also a Scrapbooking Memories Master in 2008. I no longer submit my layouts for publishing preferring instead to enter online challenges. I feel honoured to be a part of the Stuck Sketches design team and am very grateful for the opportunity to step back into a designing role after quite a long absence.

And her application layout:
Kate McCulloch
My name is Kate McCulloch, I am 27 years old and I live on the shores of Lake Macquarie NSW with my husband and two daughters. My girls are the main source of inspiration for my layouts.
I have been scrapping for approx. 7 years and have learnt everything I know about scrapping through the world wide web. My style has changed over time, but I always love to use paints, mists, clustering, stamping and textures on my layouts. I have been published in Scrapbooking Memories, Australian Scrapbook Ideas and Creating Keepsakes magazines.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to be on several design & creative teams and I am proud to be on the Flourish with a Bling Design Team and D-Lish Scraps Design Team for 2012, as well as Daring you to Scrap, and 123 challenge!
I enjoy scrapping for the pure joy of creating. I find it to be great therapy, and being able to document how life plays out for me is just a bonus!

And her application layout:
Have a great day.

CT Introductions - Part 1

Let's start getting to know our new Spring / Summer Team a little bit better.

Over the next few days, I will be introducing a few of them each day. Today we are meeting Anne Patterson and Atsuko Hashimoto.

Anne Patterson
My name is Anne Patterson and I have been scrapbooking for about seven years.  I came across the hobby when a friend of mine invited me to go to a creative memories party when I was living in the US and I guess I just never stopped.  I love scrapping and the main subjects are my wonderful sons who are 5 and 7 years of age, however I also get a great deal of pleasure in creating LO’s for friends.  I cannot say I have a distinct style as I enjoy trying new things and new products.  My favourite technique is stitching on my page, but I am always up for a challenge and this is what inspires almost ALL my LO's.  I am also current on the Design Team at Scrapmatts and teach at my Local Scrapbooking Store.

And her application layout:

Atsuko Hashimoto
Hello there everyone!! My name is Atsuko and I am from Japan. I live in Okayama (kinda central Japan geographically) with my loving family containing my ever so cool hubby and 2 kids. The oldest is a boy at
12 and his sister is at 6.

I think my favorite design style is simple but I love multi layers for added dimensions. One thing I never do without is to write a journal on every pages to keep memories more fresh every time we look at them.

I have been in love with Stuck!? Sketches for a long time for its very inspiring sketches and fabulous DT members!  I am so honored and excited to be able to join the team!!
